In the middle of an international Cricket match between Australia and India, played at Ranchi, India on Friday, Indian players turned up, wearing military caps of Indian army instead of wearing the prescribed cricket caps or hats. The match was being played under the patronage of International Cricket Council, the global body for looking after the laws and affairs, relating to International Cricket.
The Caps, given to the Indian Cricket team were worn by the players to show solidarity with Indian Army that was engaged in a stand-off, that emerged out of a suicide attack on India’s paramilitary soldiers in Indian Occupied Kashmir, in retaliation to the inhuman brutalities by Indian security Forces on innocent Kashmiris who do not want to remain under illegal occupation of their territory and want to gain independent status under the UN approved Resolution.
The bid by the Indian government, Indian Cricket Board and the Indian intelligence, while emerged as a shameful act to politicize and rather militarize the global sports, the first of its kind, right there it gave more credence to Kashmir issue being an international issue as India itself picked up an international sports event to register the state of affairs in the Part of Kashmir, it is occupying illegally, though use of brutal force.
The ICC remained mum over the issue. The issue that tore apart all the norms, traditions, laws, legislations and above all the pride of the Cricket that is the sport being a “Gentlemen’s Game”, couldn’t earn even a knee jerk response from the ICC, the custodian of all what was thrashed comprehensively by this ugly act by the Indian Cricketers and Cricket authorities. One can imagine how it went unnoticed by ICC when one looks at the name of the current Chairman of ICC, Shashank Manohar, an Indian. Manipulating sports, showbiz, diplomacy, justice, trade and what not, by placing their own people at international forum and bodies is a globally exposed phenomenon and thus silence of ICC over the outrageous incident could be understood to some extent. But what is wrong with Cricket Australia? Why did not the Australian, Cricketers at first place and Cricket authorities and Australian government even the Australian media and the Australian Cricket fans, at subsequent stage, refuse to be part of this shameful trick of the Indians that destroyed all dimensions of the game? The game that Australians take immense pride in not only playing but even reporting, covering and watching in the fairest manners and do not tolerate any unfairness in it, set aside, using it for political or military purposes. It was the same Australian Cricket Board, same Australian Media and same Australian cricket fans who showed no tolerance when their own cricketers did opt for something unbecoming during a match with South Africans, just a few months back and brought all the culprits of destroying the spirit of the game to their knees.
The Daily Mail is shocked to see that even after 24 hours of this filthy drama of Indians took place, no member of the visiting Australian Cricket team, no member of the touring management committee , no officials from Cricket Australia, back in Australia and even no Australian media outlet, that has a plenty of seasoned and sane journalists, commentators and analysts, has not objected to what Indians did by dragging them conveniently to this highly unethical drama but none of them has even condemned such a derogatory act that killed all the spirit of the game. Not only this but Australian government has also not paid any attention to the incident which has it far reaching implications on International politics, global diplomacy and the charter of the UN as well as the Human Rights
The Daily Mail very strongly believes that by doing so, the Australian cricket authorities, the visiting members of Australian Cricket team, and Australian media have become part of a nefarious Indian plan to show Delhi’s resolve to continue violating the UN Resolutions and to keep crushing all Human Rights standards ( as is evident from OHCHR report of June 2018). It is very sad to notice how easily and willingly global communities fall prey to the shameful and ugly plans against humanity, sports and Human Rights and Indians can grab them to it so conveniently.
The Daily Mail expects the same reaction from the Australian cricket team, Cricket Board, government and their media and fans that they have been showing to every incident that destroys the fairness of the game and that is against the humanity and Human Rights. We expect Austrians to condemn every such incident rather than being a part of it.
The Daily Mail also believes that elected international bodies such as the ICC should be kept clean of politics and international conspiracies.
And to Indians, we would just like to remind that they used to ‘worship’ cricket and this sport used to be their second ‘religion’.
