ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail said country’s exports had increased this year while imports were decreasing due to effective policies of the incumbent government.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that more focus was being given to enhance country’s exports for strengthening national economy.
The minister said the government had increased power generation capacity upto 12000 megawatt which was a big achievement.
He said the government was making all out efforts to minimize circular debts.
To a question, he said privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Steel Mills was imperative.
The government initiated process of privatization of Pakistan International Airlines but had to stop due to opposition by Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he added.
The 2018 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference is scheduled for April 8 to 11 in Boao, Hainan Province. The forum will be themed "An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity."
