Tashkent (Uzbekistan): From 1 January 2019, Uzbekistan will introduce biometric passports of a citizen for traveling abroad and cancels the procedure for issuing an authorization sticker for traveling abroad.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On basic measures to improve the order of departure of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan to abroad”.
Uzbek President with his decree approved a proposal to introduce the biometric passport of the citizen of Uzbekistan for traveling abroad from 1 January 2019.
From 1 January 2019, Shavkat Mirziyoyev canceled the procedure for issuing the authorization sticker for traveling abroad.
Citizens will be able to travel abroad with current passports with the authorization of stickers to abroad till introduction of new biometric passports for travelling abroad.
Migration and citizenship divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consular offices of Uzbekistan abroad will receive applications and collect data for issuance of biometric passport for travelling abroad.
Personalization of the biometric passport of the citizen of Uzbekistan for traveling abroad is carried out by the State Personalization Center under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The President instructed the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan till 1 December 2017 to approve the State Standard for the Biometric Passport of the citizen of Uzbekistan for traveling abroad.
Till 1 January 2018, the ministries and departments are entrusted to submit for approval a draft regulation on the passport system in Uzbekistan and procedure for departure of citizens of Uzbekistan in new edition.
