ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said the government ministers threatened to not admit verdict of the Supreme Court in Panama Leaks case, after they said the JIT report sans Qatari prince’s statement is not acceptable.
Speaking to media here, the PTI chief expressed his apprehensions that he sees the situation leading to an attack on the apex court, like the one in 1997.
He labelled yesterday’s presser by federal ministers as an “attack on the investigation team”, noting that the PML-N has stated that it won’t accept the JIT report without statement by the Qatari prince.
“When the Qatari prince was everything [for them], so wasn’t it their responsibility to bring him to record statement,” Khan questioned, adding the entire case of Sharif family depended upon Prince Hamad bin Jasim.
Now they know that the report has reached a point indicating Nawaz Sharif’s ineligibility, so now they say they will not accept the SC verdict, he said.
“While appearing before the JIT, they waived hands as if they were going to conquer Kashmir, but they were upset on return,” the PTI chairman said. “They should also go to prison for considering the entire nation fool.”
He said that Nawaz Sharif had brought the judiciary under control after Justice Sajjad Ali Shah.
“Yesterday’s press conference shows that Sharif family has lost the case,” Khan said, urging the apex court to ordering placement of PM’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
Commenting on his party’s funding, he said, “We admit we collected funds from overseas Pakistanis. If we have evaded taxes, then people should raise the issue in Britain”.
