A college in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province has become the first to send out an admission notice featuring augmented reality (AR) technology, reports the People’s Daily.
Before being able to ‘step foot’ on the Virtual Campus, students need to download an app developed by NWPU.
Then, once they scan the notice, information about the university will appear on their phones.
While the front side features explanations about the university’s past and present, as well as the courses it offers, QR codes on the back of the letter grant the student access to dynamic presentations of the university’s characteristics.
“By implanting AR technology in our admission letters, we not only present a special gift to our students, but at the same time, highlight NWPU’s spirit of innovation,” said Xie Dan, Assistant Dean of Enrollment at NWPU.
