Pakistan have climbed one spot to number 7 in the latest ICC Men’s One Day International (ODI) rankings on the back of a series of stunning victories against England, Sri Lanka and South Africa in the Champions Trophy.
Pakistan, which a couple of years ago was struggling to maintain its spot in the tournament – which features top eight sides – now rests above Sri Lanka in the rankings, with a score of 93 – the same as the Sri Lankan team – in fewer matches.
South Africa tops the rankings, updated on Wednesday, with Australia and India on its heels. England is ranked at number 4 while New Zealand and Bangladesh occupy the 5th and 6th spots.
Hassan Ali, Pakistan’s only bowler to appear in Top 20 bowler rankings for ODIs is expected to jump a few spots following an update in individual players’ rankings which were last updated on June 12.
