In a statement, Qureshi dubbed the relations between the civil and military leadership not different than those in 1999.
Referring to the sit-in called by Imran Khan, Chairman of the political organisation in Islamabad, Qureshi said that the people needed to ensure their participation in light of the troubled times so that they could put the country on the right track.
The statement has come in over a week after a report published in an English newspaper claimed of tensions between the government and the army.
Following the report, the journalist was barred from leaving the country before the Interior Ministry lifted the ban on him around three days later.
Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan stated in a press conference earlier this week that a probe was underway and would be completed within three to four days. He said that a committee had formed and was investigating the issue.
Both the government and the military have denied the story and stated multiple times that it was baseless.
