KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers on Sunday refuted the statements by a political party leader which gave the impression that Karachi operation is aimed at a single party or its individuals.
The Sindh Rangers spokesman said that a political party leader (MQM’s Waseem AKhtar) had addressed the DG Rangers Sindh in its statements on Saturday.
The spokesman called the statements against the truth. He said that Sindh Rangers is targeting criminals and extremists, keeping in view the law.
He added that the purpose of Karachi operation is to keep durable peace in Sindh.
The imprisoned mayor of Pakistan’s largest city Waseem Akhtar had said on Saturday that all his offences were bailable. He had addressed the DG Rangers and said ‘DG Rangers is my elder, if he is cross over something then he should let it go’.
It was possible that he made mistakes in the past but it was now time to move forward, Waseem Akhtar had said.
Akhtar was arrested on July 19 on suspicion of sheltering and providing medical treatment to alleged militants and criminals. He also faces earlier charges of inciting riots. He was elected as the mayor of Karachi on August 24.
