KARACHI: Director General (DG) Rangers Major General Bilal Akber on Monday said that attack on the media houses was a planned affair and even before the MQM chief’s address the sector and unit activists were gathered around the Karachi Press Club in the form of groups.
Six accused have been arrested on the charges of attack and ransacking the media houses on August 22, said DG Rangers.
Talking to media at the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Akber said that raids are being conducted to arrest other accused.
The sector and unit activists were gathered around the Karachi Press Club, “some of them had meal at the branches of the two banks.”
He said that Altaf Hussain delivered a provocative speech and asked the activists to attack the media house.
The DG Rangers pointed out that one person was killed and three others were injured in the violence.
He said that the accused are being identified through the video footages and being handed over to the police for legal action.
