ISLAMABAD: Minister of the Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan presided a high-level meeting on Friday. It was decided in the meeting that a complete database of Pakistani culprits present abroad shall be formed whereas geo mapping of Karachi and Quetta shall also take place in order to counter terrorism.
Interior minister was briefed that applications regarding the formation of 132 Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) were received as 46 NGOs based abroad were allowed to function whereas Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with 37 NGOs were also signed.
Chaudhry Nisar directed that no NGOs should be evicted until the decision regarding their legality is made, further stating that all NGOs be brought within the sphere of law within six months.
While addressing the meeting, Nisar stated that 334 foreigners had returned their fake Identification (ID) cards by now, 333 of these foreigners had Afghan origins whereas one of the fake ID card holders was a Bengali.
It was also decided that National Database and Regulatory Authority (NADRA) officials involved in making fake ID cards shall not only lose their jobs but will be apprehended as action in this regards shall be taken from September 1 onwards whereas a committee shall overlook all moves made in this regards.
It was decided in the meeting that the deadline to voluntarily handover fake ID cards be extended by one month. Interior minister also directed geo mapping of Quetta and Karachi in order to tackle terrorism whereas the task of geo mapping was handed over to National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Coordinator Ahsan Ghani.
While referring to the Fahad Malik case, Chaudhry Nisar stated that certain individuals were politicising the case. A high level committee was formed to investigate the case whereas the names of the culprits were added in the Exit Control List (ECL). Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Captain Ilyas informed the attendants of the meeting that the accused culprits in the case were going to be bailed on August 27 and August 30.
Chaudhry Nisar directed to overview complete reports in order to bring back Pakistani culprits in foreign countries and directed to form a complete database which caters to the matter. He also directed Punjab police to apprehend culprits present in the province.
