LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday sent suspect Anees in Zeenat murder case on seven-day physical remand.
Police arrested victim Zeenats brother from Nishtar Colony locality on Tuesday morning.
Reportedly, Anees went into hiding after Zeenat was burned alive by her mother last week. Girls mother and brother-in-law are already in police custody.
Zeenat was set on fire last Wednesday in Lahore, a little over a week after she wed 20-year-old motorcycle mechanic Hasan Khan against the wishes of her family.
Her mother Perveen Bibi has admitted to the killing. Early reports suggested she was asphyxiated first and then burnt alive.
Hasan Khan, who said he had met his wife while they were students at high school, also suggested that Perveen had been helped in the murder by her brother and son, and was covering up for them.
The case has drawn widespread outrage even in a country used to so-called “honour killings”, which account for hundreds of deaths every year.
It was also the third such case involving burning over a three-month span.
