ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif shall be presiding over the meetings of the National Economic Council (NEC) and the cabinet, that have been called on Monday to discuss the approval of the federal budget of the next fiscal year, through a video link.
Various important decisions were made in the consultation meetings held on Saturday which were led by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar. It was decided that the meetings of the cabinet and the NEC should be called on Monday and shall be led by PM Nawaz via video link.
According to a representative of the Prime Minister, PM Nawaz will visit the Pakistani High Commission in the United Kingdom on Monday from where he shall address the meetings and will give approval of the federal budget of the next fiscal year.
Sources indicate that it was decided that Ishaq Dar shall look after important matters in the absence of PM Nawaz Sharif. It was also decided that the Prime Minister shall be kept informed of the situation within the country.
PM Nawaz will undergo an open-heart surgery in the UK on Tuesday. Doctors have advised him bed rest for two weeks after the surgery.
