Islamabad: The newly appointed Inspector General of Police Tariq Masood Yasin has said that all possible efforts would be made for improving security arrangements in Islamabad. Talking exclusively to The Daily Mail Inspector General of Police said that responsible media can play vital role for peace, safety and security. He asserted that the law and order situation in the federal capital was improving day by day.
IG Tariq Masood Yasin, soon after his appointment called on Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan at Punjab House last month and he was given first task to professionally handle the PTI public meeting at F, 9 Park. The IGP chalked out a comprehensive strategy to accomplish the task and under his strategy, police established a Police Help Desk inside F-9 Park which was next to the entry gate (Mehran Gate) on the left flank in front of CDA Office. It established a comprehensive communication network and provide information about Traffic plan, constant situation reports, lost & found with Emergency Health Care, Ambulances and Fire Brigade etc for general public. It was observed that during the PTI public meeting there was only one gate for entry and exit of the crowd. The local police created two extra exits for use of the citizens at the time of dispersal.
The media associations of crimes, courts and city appreciated IGP Tariq Masood Yasin and his entire police team for excellent security and traffic arrangements in Islamabad, on the occasion. Tariq Yasin said that there was no shortage of police in Islamabad We have managed the recent public meeting of PTI with local police and they managed very well with the available Constabulary he, said. We have taken every humanly possible step to ensure the security of the citizens and to keep the traffic in order,. He asserted that nobody was allowed to destroy the peace of the City for which we are sufficiently prepared. We tried our best to keep the city clean and peaceful as we love this city and its citizens he, added.
To another question, IG Islamabad said there was no political pressure on Islamabad police at any level. I have been given free hand by the Ministry of Interior in maintaining the law and order in Capital he, stated.
Answering yet another question he said that the close liaison among ICT Police and citizens was the need of the day for a secured city. He said that installation of security cameras will help the police and security personnel in ensuring safety and security to the life and property. He further said that regular interaction between ICT Police and other security departments was also a highly pivotal factor to overcome crimes and ensure security in Islamabad.
At this occasion this correspond got an opportunity to observe a meeting, chaired by the IGP. While addressing the police officials in that meeting , he stressed upon them to positively change attitude towards general public. Tariq Yasin further told them to be prompt in registering t that good attitude with citizens, listening to their complaints, and prompt registration of FIRs in property cases, fair investigations and an attitude to ace FIRs and other complaints by the citizens and that too with a smile.
The IGP asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to citizens, adding No laxity in this regard will be tolerated. Tariq Masood stressed for speedy disposal of cases and their investigation purely on merit. Policing was a service oriented job and every police official must serve the humanity with devotion, said IGP.
Later, to a question, he said that use of security related latest technology and equipment in Islamabad would help in coping with security challenges more effectively.
