Both the culprits, Muhammad Alam and Behroz have been sent to jail on judicial remand. Six suspects were presented before a court today after ten-day remand in police custody expired. Four suspects pleaded not guilty besides the two confessions.
The late member of provincial assembly (MPA) was gunned down by motorcyclists on April 25 in Buner district. Banned outfit, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility of the attack which was later refuted by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.
A press conference held five days after the attack revealed that a rival Sikh politician, Baldev Kumar had hired assassins to kill Singh. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Azad Khan refuted terror outfits claim and stated that Kumar had confessed to the crime.
DIG Khan revealed that Kumar paid around USD 10,000 for the killing.
KP Police had taken at least six suspects in custody after the attack while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawazs (PML-N) deputy nazim in Shangla, Azam Khan was also detained. Police had accused the deputy nazim of facilitating the attack.
PTI has written a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to appoint Ravi Kumar as minority affairs minister as Kumar is under custody.
Kumar, councilor from Swat was elected as member of the assembly on the reserved seat as he was next in line after Singh. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf announced its detachment with Kumar while different politicians condemned his membership that could not challenged due to lack of legal framework.
Last rites of late Sardar Soran Singh were performed in his native town in Buner district. Numerous politicians including KP Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak offered condolences to the grieving family and visited the house.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had announced to sponsor education of late politicians children and provision of a residence.
