ISLAMABAD: Speakers at the 9th annual general meeting of Thinkers Forum, a well know think-tank of the country, have called for immediate social reforms and adoption of self accountability by the nation in all walks of life to ensure Pakistan’s tomorrow could be far better than today.
Speakers, including former Chief of Air Staff ACM Kaleem Saadat, former Secretary Defense General Naeem Lodhi, Former Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Muhammad Akram Sheikh and former Brigadier Asif Haroon, stressed on need for shunning malpractices and hypocrisy by every individual in Pakistani society and to start social reforms at home and school levels.
Former Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Akram Sheikh presented a mammoth analysis report on national economic scenario with special emphasis on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and briefed the participants about the mega potential of CPEC to reshape Pakistan’s economic future. He alleged that Politics had gripped Planning Commission and it was being run in political style and not in the professional manner and that was why it had almost become crippled to handle the mammoth affairs of CPEC. Brig. Asif Haroon came up with special analysis on India’s sinister plans against Pakistan. He said that India had not reconciled with the existence of Pakistan and that was why it had constantly remained in orchestrating sinister plans against Pakistan right from the beginning. He said that in the current scenario, India was hell-bent on destroying the CPEC is it knows that CPEC will redefine Pakistan’s economy and will push this country to a state of economical self-sufficiency. He said that India will never come closer to any solution over Kashmir dispute with Pakistan and would keep targeting Pakistan’s nuclear capabilities. He further said that due to Indian sinister plans, Pakistan today was facing two hostile borders and had become sandwich between India and Pakistan. He added that in India all parties were united on anti-non Hindu and anti-Pakistan agenda and were thus pushing Hindutva philosophy one way or the other. He said that If India’s BJP party is very openly and hardly pushing Hindutva agenda than the Congress party had been doing same in a rather softer way. ACM Kaleem Saadat gave his thoughts over Pakistan, Islam and the world today and said that Pakistani society was required to make maximum contributions to make Pakistan at par with global requirements while maintaining its status as a highly civilized and tolerant Islamic Republic.
