LAHORE: Petetion against Khawaja Hassan’s unopposed victory in Union Council (UC)-107 was heard in Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday.
According to details, a local resident named Munir Ahmed filed petition against Khawaja Hassan’s unopposed win, taking the stance that no government official can compete in elections within two years of resignation. Justice Shahid Kareem of Lahore High Court heard the case where lawyer of the plaintiff Azhar Sadique gave the argument that Khawaja Hassan had been working as chairman of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and other government offices and resigned just before the election which is against the local government ordinance.
Lawyer of the plaintiff requested the court to reject the papers of Khawaja Hassan’s nomination, to which the lawyer of Hassan requested for the time to prepare for his counter argument. Court gave time to the lawyer and adjourned the hearing till March 7.
