ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah has said that absence of Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and ministers from the Parliament is sad.
He criticised the government while addressing the participants in the National Assembly.
Shah reminded that the Parliament had driven the government out of troubled situations. PM Nawaz Sharif and the ministers do not attend assembly sessions except few, he added.
He said that the behavior shows Parliament’s significance for the government. Parliament has no standing if every matter has been decided by courts, he added. Shah said that memo scandal had been brought only to weaken the Parliament.
None from the government is giving the Parliament its due respect, he added.
The Opposition Leader said that the Parliament is losing people’s trust. He said that the government passed around 37 while the opposition atleast 57 bills in the last two and a half years.
Shah urged the National Assembly Speaker to take suo moto notice.
On January 5, the Opposition Leader had demanded the government to call an in-camera session to discuss Saudi-Iran row.
Shah demanded the government to clear its constraints and ties with the countries as Saudi-Iran tiff could affect the entire region. The Opposition Leader criticised Aziz for his statements.
Shah had criticised National Security Advisor (NSA) Sartaj Aziz for reading out Foreign Office’s (FO) press release to the participants as to him, it sounded like statement of a ‘weakened and helpless state.’
