LODHRAN: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday said people are tired of the cruel system, adding that they will stand firm on their stance until the rigging culprits are punished.
The PTI is also out to show power ahead of the NA-154 by-election. Addressing the rally, Imran Khan said he didn’t see such a passion in audience in Lodhran as he saw today (Monday).
He said it is because of the PTI candidate Jehangir Tareen that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has given a package of Rs 2.5 billion for the people of Lodhran “because he fears Tareen might win”.
Imran Khan said the people of Lodhran are fed up of bribery and want to see change now. He said people there are informed and won’t sell out for any package.
The PTI chief also lashed out at the Punjab government during his address, saying that the money ‘wasted’ on Metrobus, Orangeline Metro train and other such projects could have been spent on schools.
He said 25 thousand new schools could be made with the same amount of money being spent on the Onangeline Metro train.
Khan further said the Punjab government is making expensive projects while acquiring loans, adding that free medicine would be possible if the same amount of money was spent on the hospitals.
The PTI chief said that the government assists the farmers in India but in Pakistan, he claimed, the farmers are being murdered economically. He said the people fed up of cruel system now want a new Pakistan.
Imran Khan said no one is subjected to revengeful activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but in Punjab, he said, his party workers were killed and no one was arrested.
Targeting Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, he said CM Punjab wishes he should forget election rigging. “I know you can never win without rigging”, he said, adding that rigging is an unforgivable crime, the one he will never forget.
He said he will never be quiet until those involved in rigging are punished.
