During the meeting, DG Rangers and Governor Sindh discussed law and order situation in Karachi and efforts being made to purge criminals from the city. The security plan for Rabi Al-Awwal processions was also discussed during the meeting. DG Rangers said that it will be their priority to maintain religious harmony and keep law and order situation under control during the Eid Milad celebrations.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday said people want to politick in the name of Rangers to score points to their benefits, adding that his government won’t let that happen.
Talking to the media at the Gymkhana Club before leaving for Larkana, CM Sindh said it is strange that the matter of Rangers is being this exploited. He said Rangers are with the Sindh government and will remain so.
He said Rangers have done so well along with the police and have achieved a lot to establish peace. The Sindh CM said that this cannot be ignored.
“This is a legal matter which was delayed a little”, he said. “Rangers and Sindh government are cooperating with each other”.
Shah said the sacrifices of the police and Rangers are in front of everyone. However, he said, the sacrifices and successes of the police have not been that highlighted.
He further said that it is not appropriate to politick over Rangers. “National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is very active without informing”, he said, adding that Rangers is an institution of the federation; therefore it is mandatory to seek extension from the Assembly as per Article 147.
The Chief Minister further said that he was invited by the Prime Minister one day before the press conference of Interior Minister.
He said he had talked to PM and Interior Minister about his reservations, adding that he is satisfied with his captaincy.
Qaim Ali Shah said the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been given the jurisdiction of anti-terrorism and that everyone was taken on board regarding the Karachi operation.
The operation is not the success of one individual or institution but is a result of everyone’s joint efforts, he added while complaining that Interior Minister did not even mention the sacrifices of the police which he said is sad.
CM Sindh further said that it would be seen in the Assembly whether Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supports or opposes the Karachi operation. He said there must be no injustice with anyone whether it is Dr Asim or anyone else.
Shah said the accusation about protecting one individual and video is ‘inappropriate’.
