Guinea’s President Alpha Conde said the essence of Sino-African cooperation lies in the success and satisfaction of both sides within the partnership framework, and that this will help the economic transition of African countries through infrastructure development.
In an interview with the People’s Daily, Conde also thanked the Chinese government and people “for their practical contribution to the development of Guinea.”
“China has been together with us in the fight against Ebola, and an all-around cooperation covering areas including mining, energy, infrastructure and agriculture,” added Conde.
Conde stressed that the cooperation with China should cover all areas especially in infrastructure, which should be the African countries’ priority. Africa has sufficient resources and labor, and African countries are obliged to build a prosperous future for their younger generation, he added.
Guinea hopes to boost its infrastructure knowing its potential, which is key to accomplishing the goal of a diverse and balanced economy, Conde said.
Conde also spoke highly of the progress in the practical cooperation with China, whose projects had helped the country’s economic transition.
The largest hydropower station of Guinea, the Guinea Kaleta hydropower station, built by China International Water and Electric Corporation and financed by Guinea’s government and the Export-Import Bank of China, was completed in time amid the challenge of Ebola, allowing the majority of Guinea people to enjoy continuous power supply with the project for the first time, explained Conde.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech on the development of Sino-African relations is full of wisdom, Conde told the newspaper.
With similar historical experiences, China and African countries also belong to a community of common destiny, and African countries can learn from China’s efforts to deal with its challenges during its development process, said Conde, adding that China is Africa’s great opportunity since the fundamental principle of Sino-African cooperation is mutual benefit and a win-win result.
