MITHI: Pakistan People Party (PPP) Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif only made promises to the people of Thar and then returned never looking back again for a follow up.
“The individual he (PM) had left as his representative is actually a ‘Ravan of Thar’,” he said while addressing a public meeting here.
He said the PM had only made promises to the people of Thar and announcements during his visit last year. “Mian Sahab what has become of all your promises and announcements?” he asked.
He maintained that those promises and announcements remain unfulfilled to this day. “The people of Thar and I know that you will never take practical steps,” he added.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto celebrated ‘Diwali’ festival with the Hindu community. He also cut a cake and got a ‘Tilak’ on his forehead. “People’s Party sees Diwali as its own festival,”
He said the worshippers of dictatorship are against our unity and that extremism was being spread through a conscious effort.
Bilawal said his party will move forward by taking everyone onboard, adding, ‘those who spread hatred are not among us’.
He said PPP is a lynchpin of the four federating units of the country and ‘today I am here to be part of the celebrations of Diwali festival’.
The PPP Chairman called upon the people to put a stamp on PPP’s election symbol ‘arrow’ during the second phase of Local Government elections due on November 19.
“I will do everything in my capacity to help my brothers and sisters,” he said, adding, PPP always talks about equality, the farmers, students and the people.
“Whenever there is an election the ‘cricket bat’ and ‘lion’ appear together on a poster,” he said, regretting, all of them stand together against the PPP. This is because PPP speaks for the farmers, he added.
