MUZAFFARABAD: Former Chief Coordinator of Pakistan, Tehreek-e- Instaf and prominent political figure, Sardar Zahid Hussain Abbasi has demanded intra-party elections to provide clean and honest leadership to the party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
In a letter addressed to PTI Secretary General, Jhangir Khan Tareen, he said AJK chapter of PTI headed by Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry is quite devoid of revolutionary spirit and vision given by party founder and chairman Imran Khan.
Terming Barrister Sultan Mahmood and cohorts as members of the political club that represents status quo, Sardar Zahid Hussain Abbasi alleged that Barrister Sultan Mahmood bought Premiership of AJK by giving bribe of 80 million to Asif Ali Zardari in 1996 and Sultan’s family looted hard-earned money of the poor people of AJK in cooperative bank scam.
He said that AJK leadership of PTI if not replace through transparent and fair intra- party elections would blacken the face of the party and its chairman Imran Khan by indulging in corruption and corrupt practices.
Describing the territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir liberated by a pious persons like Mujahidawal Sardar Muhammad Abdul Qayyum Khan sacred like a mosque, he said it has now been turned into a den of corruption by politicians like Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry out of lust for power and money.
The scion of well-off and influential family of Sardar Gul Ahmed Khan who himself and his sons Sardar Arif and Sardar Abdul Razzaq Khan played a pivotal role in liberation war of Kashmir in 1947-48, Sardar Zahid said AJK was not liberated to buy political loyalties with the money.
He regretted that PTI AJK leader Mussadaq Khan, a true lover of Imran Khan was replaced with Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry simply because later enjoys power of ill-gotten money and blind following of his tribe.
Sardar Zahid Hussain currently battling the multiple health issues on a hospital bed said he had fought against the corruption and in support of merit, rule of law and politics based on principles would continue his struggle and mission till his last breath and will never compromise on the ideals he believes.
