Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit in late September to the United States. Recently, People’s Daily Online randomly interviewed some Chinese people in several cities in China about their impressions on President Obama and their views about China-US relationship.
“I think, firstly he is an inspiring African American, and secondly, he is a qualified politician and a qualified American president. “ A high school student said.
Many interviewees mentioned that Obama is the first black American president and have rather good impressions on him.
A property management staff said “I knew President Obama through a talk show on TV. I think he is humorous and affectionate to people.”
“My first impression on him is that he has a bright smile.” “I think he is a leader with personal charisma.” “I think he looks smart and energetic. From my point of view, he is a good state leader.” said the interviewees.
The interaction between Obama and Xi also impressed many Chinese people. “My deepest impression on him is what he said about President Xi. He said that President Xi is a very influential man, which I can’t agree more. His remarks on President Xi make me like him more.” A college student said.
In terms of China-US relationship, most people have sober and objective views. “Generally speaking, the China-US relationship is good. However, there are still problems and conflicts. I hope the U.S. can give China more support and understanding.”
All the interviewees hope that China-US relationship can have a bright future. “I hope that China-US relationship can endure.” “I hope the trade relations between the two countries can be improved.” “Anyway, friendship is better than confrontation. Let’s create a win-win situation.” “I hope that people of the two countries can benefit more from the bilateral cooperation.” they said.
Chinese people also showed great enthusiasm to exchanges between the two countries. “I want to invite him to China and let him experience Chinese life and Chinese culture.” “I hope Chinese people can have more time and opportunities to go to the U.S., for exchange, for travel and for making money together.” said some interviewees.
