Director General of Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Imran Gardezi has said that Radio was still a very important medium of information in this era of info revolution and thus was considered to be a very effective tool for the promotion of social and cultural ties and thus Radio Pakistan is delivering with comprehensive responsibility. He expressed these views while talking to a group of senior journalists from Pakistan-China Media Friendship Association, led by the Chairman of the association Makhdoom Babar who is also the President and Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail, the group also included a high level Chinese media delegation of China’s Yunan Daily Press Group Kunming, Yunnan Province China, comprising Mr. Wang Xufei, Director of Comments/editorial section ,Mr.Zhang Tong, Deputy Director of Photography Department, Mr. Yang Zhihui, Reporter, Mr. Zu Hongbing, Reporter and Ms.Lian Huiling Reporter of The Spring City Evening News. The delegation had arrived from China on the invitation of The Daily Mail to hold high level interviews over CPEC and One Belt-One Road.
Unveiling the future projects of Radio Pakistan, that could be described as Radio Diplomacy for CPEC, Mr. Imran Gardezi, who enjoys an illustrious career as an Information Services Officer, said that CPEC was extended part One-Belt- One Road and both projects were linked to each other thus Radio Pakistan was putting all its efforts and energies to promote CPEC and One Belt-One Road through the radio medium. He said that since the country’s leadership was attaching extraordinary importance for the promotion of relations between Pakistan and China, Radio Pakistan was given additional directions by the Prime Minister and the Information Minister to enhance efforts in this direction. He said an important agreement was signed in this regard between Pakistan and China during the historic visit of China’s President Mr. Xi Jinping in April this year. He said under the agreement, China’s State radio the China Radio International (CRI) and Pakistan’s State radio the Radio Pakistan were starting a joint production syndication with synchronized efforts to promote Pakistan-China ties. He said that he was sure that Radio Pakistan would play a very important role not for the promotion of Sino-Pakistan ties but also to support CPEC and One Belt-One Road. Mr. Gardezi and his team also briefed the visiting journalists about the history and functioning of radio Pakistan.
In their remarks at the occasion, the visiting Chinese journalists expressed their deep admiration for the efforts of Radio Pakistan for the promotion and projection of CPEC and One Belt-One Road and for the enhancement of people to people contact between Chinese and Pakistani people. Paying rich tributes to the efforts of DG radio and his team, the Chinese journalists termed DG Radio as the Radio Ambassador of CPEC and said that they were sure that under his dynamic leadership, Radio Pakistan would emerge as one of the top forces to push the cause of CPEC.
