ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Wednesday chaired a meeting which reviewed the progress on the K2 & K3 energy projects.
DG SPD (strategic plans division), Lt. General Mazhar Jameel discussed with the Minister, important matters about the two projects and sought facilitation for shaping up the financing mechanism including issuance of guarantee by the Finance Ministry.
The over 2000 MW energy projects were to be jointly financed by China (EXIM Bank) and Government of Pakistan, a statement of Finance Ministry issued here said.
The Finance Minister directed the Economic Affairs Division to take up the matter with the EXIM Bank in coordination with the SPD and complete the formalities for the loan.
He said when completed K2 and K3 would prove to be very economical source of energy and help alleviate problem of energy shortage.
The Minister emphasized close coordination among all the relevant stakeholders i.e. EAD, Finance, SPD and PAEC for completion of the K2 and K3 as a priority.
Secretary Finance, Dr. Waqar Masood, Secretary EAD, Saleem Sethi, Advisor Finance Division, Rana Assad Amin, Additional Secretary, Tariq Mahmood Pasha and JS to Minister, Awais Manzoor Sumra attended the meeting.
