KARACHI–The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) directed the authorities concerned on Monday to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at all polling stations for the upcoming by-election in NA-246 constituency of the city.
The by-polls are scheduled for April 23 (Thursday). The National Assembly seat fell vacant following resignation of Nabil Gabol earlier in February. Gabol was elected from the Azizabad constituency in the 2013 general elections on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) ticket.
Police have also requested the provincial home department to ban pillion riding in the city to thwart any untoward incident citing security risks for the by-polls.
Meanwhile, the elections commission has also directed Presiding Officers to report at their designated polling stations a day ahead of the by-election.
The 2018 Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) annual conference is scheduled for April 8 to 11 in Boao, Hainan Province. The forum will be themed "An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity."
