Pakistan’s heavily-built fast bowler Sohail Khan will miss the upcoming tour of Bangladesh after sustaining a back injury during a conditioning camp at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, chief selector Haroon Rasheed confirmed.
The 31-year-old Sohail, who was a vital part of Pakistan’s pace attack at the World Cup picking up 12 wickets, will be replaced by left-arm paceman Junaid Khan who missed the tournament with a knee injury.
Sohail has been advised two weeks rest by the medical team and it is unclear whether he will make the Bangladesh trip at all.
“After the uncertain fitness of Sohail, we have decided to add Junaid Khan to continue in the ODIs as well,” Rasheed told ESPNcricinfo.
“We cant say how serious Sohail’s injury is at the moment but he is presently advised two weeks rest.”
Pakistan open the Bangladesh tour with the first of three one-day internationals in Dhaka next Friday. They also play a Twenty20 international and two tests.
