SANAA–A special Pakistan International Airlines flight carrying 170 Pakistanis, who were stranded in Yemen, has departed from Sanaa to Islamabad. The flight is expected to land at Islamabad’s Benazir Bhutto International Airport at 10:00 pm Sunday night.
Sohail Nasir, a passenger on the plane, told media: “We are very happy to be going back to our homeland.”
Nasir said, “We have been told we will land at Islamabad … After landing, we will find out the schedule – when we will fly to Karachi and how.”
“Most of the people here are from Islamabad and Lahore. But there are also people from Karachi, Faisalabad and Multan, and they will catch flights to their respective cities from Islamabad.”
A total of 849 Pakistanis have already been evacuated from Yemen following the Saudi-led assault against Houthi Rebels.
