ISLAMABAD: In a significant development for implementation of the first stage of the 2,160-megawatt Dasu Hydropower Project, the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) on Monday signed two agreements for relocation of Karakoram Highway (KKH) and construction of Right Bank Access Road in the project area.
According to a press release, the contracts were signed between Wapda and China Civil Engineering Construction Company.
The first Rs14.538 billion contract relates to relocation of 25km long stretch of KKH and is scheduled to be implemented in 546 days. The second Rs2.713 billion contract is scheduled to be implemented in a year. This 12km road will be constructed on the right bank of the Indus from Komila to Seo Dam site.
The district administration is currently in the process of acquiring land for the first stage of Dasu Hydropower Project.
