ISLAMABAD-First-ever conference of Universities’ treasures held here on Monday, adopted a comprehensive package of recommendations for better management of funds and the staff capacity-building, in light of new directions by the Higher Education Commission.
The conference was attended by the representatives of Islamabad-based Universities- NUML, IIU, QAU, COMSAT and ARID (Rawalpindi) Treasurer, AIOU Saleman Saleem presided.
The conference discussed matters of mutual interests, including catering the fund managements/ gap of inflows and out flows due to introduction new compensations schemes by government for government employees and introduction of new SROs /revision of rates etc.
The participants thanked vice chancellor AIOU Prof. Shahid Siddiqui for his support in making the conference successful.
It was decided that the conference will take place on regular basis to take stock of the new developments in the financial matters. Treasurers of other universities will also be invited in next meeting.
A delegation of treasurers will soon meet chairman HEC to discuss the common issues. The conference was addressed by Tufail Khalil, Treasurer NUM, Khurshid Alam, Director Finance, IIU, Zia Akhtar, Treasurer QAU, Muhammad Azam, Adl.Treasurer COMSAT Syeda Irum Umer, Treasurer, Arid & Agriculture Rawalpindi.
In his concluding remarks, Suelman Saleem expressed his profound gratitude to the participants for sharing their views and practices of their Universities. The conference was the result of the encouragement provided by the Vice Chancellor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, he added.
