ISLAMABAD – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has accepted the offer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for a debate on the issues of election rigging and formation of the judicial commission.
“The government is ready for the debate when and wherever the PTI desire” the minister said while talking to journalist after the APC held under the auspices of Pakistan Ulema Council here on Monday. He welcomed the offer of dialogue extended by the PTI leader Asad Umer. He asked the PTI to nominate panel of its leaders and assured that the Pakistan Muslim League-N would also nominate equal number of its panelists for the debate which would be telecast live.
He said that he was ready to cooperate with the PTI information secretary for making all the arrangements. Pervaiz said that it should be left to the people to decide whether the judicial commission the government proposes to form would redress the complaints of the PTI or the commission the PTI wants is necessary. To a question, the Ministry of Information said that the Interior Ministry would decide about allowing former president Pervaiz Musharraf to go abroad and journalist would be informed about this soon.
He said that the government has faced the crisis with farsightedness and referred to the petrol crisis which was overcome within a week. He said that the mistakes of the past have created crises in Pakistan but the government confronted them with determination. He was confident that the present government would stream the boat of Pakistan safely to the soil. Earlier addressing the All Parties Conference held under the auspices of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), he said that there should be a United Front of all the religions to promote harmony among different religions.
Pervaiz said that all the religions must respect sanctity of other religions and the religious leaders of all the faiths must play their role in this regard. The minister said not only the Muslims but followers of all the religions have strongly condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures against Islam. He said that we have gathered to condemn the shameful act of French cartoonist and express and share our feelings. He said that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is a beacon of light for all of us and by following His teachings we can respond to the enemies of the Muslims in a befitting manner.
The minister thanked Pope Francis for supporting the stance of the Muslims and said that a delegation from Pakistan should visit Vatican City and meet with the pop to thank him.
