Islamabad: Inspector General of Police Islamabad Mr. Tahir Alam Khan has urged upon the media persons and organizations to help and assist Capital police in the national terror combat and has expressed the hope that collaborated efforts of police and media would deliver spectacular results.
Talking to senior Journalists over luncheon that he hosted to have a detailed interaction with local media community, the IGP said that media was the highly pivotal and effective segment of the society and the media efforts in controlling crime and terror had become a global phenomenon. “The journalist community of the capital city has always been very cooperative with ICT Police in ensuring the safety and security of the tax payers and I am very thankful to you for this. But now we have a bigger challenge to face and that is to defeat the menace of terror through collaborated efforts and I am sure that you guys, like always, would extend your complete support in this cause”, asserted the IGP. He said that community policing centers had been established across the city and teams of volunteers had been established to help police in this combat. He urged the media community to join this cause as volunteers too.
The IGP informed the media persons that Additional Inspector General Sultan Azam Temuri had been given the charge of media coordinator in addition to his operational duties that will enable the journalists to have comprehensive coordination with police through him.
The IGP requested journalists to stay in touch with Mr. Temuri for authentication of news related to Police. He also motivated journalist to bring some investigative reports as there was a lot of effort needed to be done in field.
