Islamabad – The Mail Media Group has immediately imposed a comprehensive embargo on use of all the media services from any French media outlet or media house, declaring a complete boycott of entire French media until and unless the French does not come with condemnation of the blasphemous Paris magazine and boycotts it for publishing content that mounts to deep hurting of the religious sentiments of all the religious followers of all the religions.
In a letter, issued by the Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Mail and the Chairman of the Mail Media Group that runs The Daily Mail, Roznama Urdu Mail, INN News (TV) and The Writers (Wire service), the Group Chairman, Mr. Makhdoom Babar has directed all the above mentioned media ventures of the Group to stop using any media content in any form from any French media outlet or media house unless the French media comes out with condemnation of the blasphemous Paris magazine and boycotts it for defaming and disgracing the sacred profession of journalism by using this platform for ridiculing Holy religious personalities and causing deep wounds to the religious sentiments of billions of people on planet earth.
In a media release, Mr. Makhdoom Babar stated “Irrespective of considering that about which religion the blasphemous Paris magazine has conducted a mischief through its latest edition, we, as a professional media house believe that this mischief by Paris magazine under the garb of freedom of press has caused utmost disgrace and damage to the sacred profession of journalism. Journalism gives no room to anyone to opt for ridiculing any religion or any religious personalities rather this profession is the platform to preach for inter-faith harmony to educate people to respect the religious feelings and beliefs of each other. By adamantly and not mistakenly opting to ridicule the religious sentiments and beliefs of billions of people across the globe, the blasphemous Paris-based magazine, I won’t name it here as I consider it a highly disgraceful act even to write the name of this magazine, that has caused maximum possible damage to the profession of journalism as a whole. We, as custodians of grace, norms and traditions of the sacred profession of journalism, seek that all the professional media organizations, especially the French media houses and outlets to condemn the unscrupulous act by the Paris-based magazine under discussion and boycott it professionally until it apologizes for the highly objectionable act that it has committed, misusing the sacred platform of journalism. We very strongly believe that the Paris-based magazine has, by no means, a justification to term its latest mischief as being part of a normal journalistic practice that could deem to be protected by the norms of freedom of press or freedom of expression. Our Media group would continue to keep this embargo on journalistic service, offered by every or any French media outlet until the blasphemous magazine is not condemned and confronted for misusing the sacred platform of journalism”.
Later, in letters written to federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Managing Director of Pakistan Television (PTV), Managing Director of Associated Press of Pakistan PTV) and Director General of Radio Pakistan, Mr. Makhdoom Babar urged upon these organization to immediately cancel all the agreements, signed with French media organizations like the AFP etc. until these French media outlets come out and condemn the act of Paris-based blasphemous magazine. It may be mentioned here that PTV, Radio Pakistan and APP are State owned organizations and frequently use paid services many foreign media organizations including the French media.
Meanwhile Mr. Makhdoom Babar who is also the Chairman of United Muslim Media Association has also urged upon all the owners of the media houses of the association across the world to follow the step, taken by the Mail Media Group, as a move to protect and safeguard the sanctity of the institution of media and profession of journalism.
