ISLAMABAD–President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have said the national economy has been put on the right track.
Talking to a delegation of trader’s community in Islamabad on Wednesday, they said economy would have been performing far better if there had been no sit-ins.
The President said traders should benefit from government’s business-friendly policies.
The Prime Minister said steps are being taken on war footing to address terrorism and energy crisis.
He said we want to add maximum electricity by 2017 in order to facilitate and attract the investors. A decision has been taken to lay gas pipeline from Gwadar to Nawabshah while a gas pipeline will be laid from Iran to Gwadar.
He said fifty five billion rupees have been released for the purchase of land for the construction of Lahore-Karachi Motorway.
Nawaz Sharif said negotiations are underway with China for construction of Sukkur-Multan motorway.
He said despite difficult circumstances, the economic indicators have improved. Foreign exchange reserves have increased and stock market is witnessing an unprecedented bullish trend.
Prime Minister said those spreading hatred and sectarianism will be tried in special trial courts.
He said Operation Zarb-e-Azb has played an important role in dismantling terror infrastructure. Those terrorising the society in the name of religion will be brought to justice.
He said the cases of attacks on Malala Yousafzai and the tourists in the northern parts of the country will soon be presented in the special trial courts.
