ISLAMABAD–Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday wrote a letter to President Mamnoon Husaain, urging him to reject the mercy pleas of five prisoners convicted of terrorism.
The convicts were identified as Muhammad Ikramul Haq Ahmed Ali, Mohammad Tayyab, Ghulam Shabbir and Zulfiqar.
The mercy petitions of these convicts were submitted earlier to the president.
Nawaz had lifted the moratorium on death penalties on December 17 in the aftermath of the devastating attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
After the ban was lifted, at least seven convicts have been executed, including those complicit in the attack on former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf.
