IGP Islamabad, Tahir Alam Khan formally inaugurated the police station at village Noon. DIG Khalid Khattak, AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri, AIG Sabir Ahmed, SP (Saddar) Muhammad Ilyas, SP Ahmed Iqbal, PML-N MNA, Mali Ibrar, Asharaf Gujar Advocate and notables of the area were also present on the occasion.
The IGP said that purpose of establishing new police station was to address the complaints of citizens on immediate basis and ensure effective policing on the entrance points of the city.
He said that cooperation of citizens was crucial for effective policing and hoped that new police station would ensure high vigilance and success against crime in the area.
The notification to establish the police station was issued in July 2012 by the then chief commissioner, Islamabad.
But the police station could not be set up due to lack of resources.
The area of Noon police station will be Moza Sheikhpur, noon, Dhok Makhan, Dhok Daud, Pindhon, Mughal Abad, Dhok Maliaran, Jhugi Syedan, EME Colelge, CMT&SD Golra, Dhok Mian Abdullah, Chishtia Abad, Motorway chowk, Golra Mor and Haji Camp.
This new police station will share the area of Tarnol police station as population in the area was increasing.
The purpose to establish new police stations with the names of Noon police station is to effectively curb crime besides controlling auto-theft, robbery as well as dacoity incidents and to monitor activities of the criminals residing in new residential areas especially in rural sector, the IGP added.
Meanwhile, the IGP Islamabad said that crime rate decreased during the last four months and efforts were underway to curb activities of criminal elements.
He said that vigilance committees were being established with the cooperation of citizens for the same purpose of vigilance and successful policing.
