ISLAMABAD : Lawmakers from both side of the aisle on Thursday termed the Peshawar attack barbaric and brutal incident and called for taking pragmatic steps and legislation to avert such gruesome incidents in future.
Speaking on the motion regarding terrorist attack on Army Public School in Peshawar, they stressed the need to join hands and eliminate elements involved in such terrorist incidents.
Talking part in the debate, Parliamentary Secretary, Rajab Ali Baloch said it was a very tragic incident after fall of Dhaka. He said that it was a highly condemnable incident on part of the terrorists.
He said that we were facing the menace of terrorism for the past 30-40 years.
However, he resolved that the terrorists would not be spared at any cost and they would be chased till their complete elimination.
He said Talibanization was a mindset and it was the need of hour to change this mindset.
He said that all the politicians were on the same page and they were united to purge the country from menace of terrorism.
Sahibzada Muhammad of Jamaat-e-Islami said that policies and legislation should be made to avert Peshawar’s like incident.
He said that all the political parties should devise serious strategy to tackle such incident.
Shah Jee Gul Afridi said that the 16 December incident was a national tragedy which paved the way for all political parties, people and establishment to come on same page and devise a concrete strategy to stop recurrence of such brutal incidents in future.
He suggested that strict legislation should be made to award exemplary punishment to the terrorists.
Abdul Rahim Mandokhel of Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party strongly condemned the Peshawar incident and said that killing an innocent person was tantamount to killing of whole humanity.
He said steps should be taken under the democratic set up to curb the militancy.
Maj.(R) Tahir Iqbal of PML-N said that military courts should be set up to trail the terrorists.
He said that one should not afraid of the military courts as there were also well educated people.
The officers deputed in these courts were also very responsible people and they provide full opportunity to the accused for their defence.
He said that these courts would provide speedy justices to the victims.
