RAWALPINDI: Ambassador of Denmark, Jesper Moller Sorensen Wednesday said that there are huge investment opportunities in Pakistan and his Embassy managed to bring representatives of Danish companies first time ever in Pakistan in October, 2014 and arranged meeting with different Chambers.
He stated this while exchanging his views with the President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), Syed Asad Mashadi during his visit to Chamber adding that as member of European Union, Denmark supported Pakistan in getting GSP plus Status.
“There are law & order issues in some areas of Pakistan but rest of the country is safe”, he added.
The ambassador said that his country could provide assistance to
Pakistan in energy, renewable energy resources like energy from waste and wind to bring Pakistan out of prevailing energy crisis.
Commercial Advisor, Aslam Pervaiz, Communication Officer Saleem Anwar,
Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez, members’ executive committee and other members of the Chamber were also present on the occasion.
Ambassador said that Denmark generated 42 percent of its total energy
from wind and could play its role to arrange meetings of Danish businessmen with their Pakistani counterparts.
He also ensured assistance in agriculture and dairy sectors of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, President RCCI, Syed Asad Mashadi said that
Rawalpindi Chamber was extending its Single Country Expos to other countries of the world and willing to organize a single country Expo in Denmark.
He said that trade volume between the two countries was just $425
million which needed to be improved adding that major exports of Pakistan to Denmark were leather, textile, cotton yarn, rice and sports goods while Denmark major exports item to Pakistan included machinery, chemical, petroleum and pharmaceutical etc.
The President RCCI said that Chamber was establishing incubation center
for business women to promote women entrepreneurs.
He informed the ambassador that Chamber was regularly arranging
different training workshops and seminars for capacity building of the members.
