ISLAMABAD – President Mamnoon Hussain has said Pakistan wants to have close relations with all its neighbours and resolve issues through meaningful dialogue. He was addressing a certificate award ceremony of 16th National Security Workshop held at National Defence University in Islamabad Friday.
The President said Pakistan is reviewing its relations with Russia and Central Asian States to boost trade ties with them. He said the national security has become a complex and multifaceted task and required strategic framework that encompasses all the segments of the society. H said we should keep in view international and regional aspects while formulating national security policy.
The President said that under the vision 2025 different programmes have been started with the cooperation of different countries that shows our relations are improving with the rest of the world. He said the survival of the country is on the completion of these projects in a successful way and all the stakeholders should play their due role in extending helping hands to the government to complete these projects.
The President said we will have to make efforts to end corruption from the society and put the country on the path of progress and development. The President said that the workshop will provide an opportunity to the participants from diverse fields to deliberate on national security and help formulate policies.
The President said that the economy is dominating the politics in the present era and if the economic condition of the country is strengthened then its politics will also be strong. He said the extremism and terrorism badly affected the economy of the country. President said government is making all out efforts to end extremism and terrorism from the country.
He asked the NDU to constitute a forum of leading religious scholars and hold conferences and deliberations to address the issue of militancy through this forum. President National Defence University Lt. General Javed Iqbal in his welcome address said that forty eight participants from over the country participated in the five week workshop
. He said the participants included Senators, Members National and Provincial Assemblies and from AJK and Gilgit Baltistan, high government officials and civil society. The President Mamnoon Hussain distributed certificates among the participants on successful completion of workshop.
