ISLAMABAD: A two-day long International Conference on Challenges in Business and Management (ICCBM) concluded after having been a forum of discussions on key issues related to business, finance and management at National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
The conference was organised by the Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS), NUML.
Around 28 research articles were presented in two-day-long proceedings of ICCBM in the 7 academic sessions. The Conference comprised of 3 tracks including Marketing track, HRM track, and Finance track supplemented by the group discussion track.
The Executive Director of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Prof. Dr Mansur Akbar Kundi, was the Chief Guest in the closing ceremony and it was attended by Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan, Dean of FMS Deparment Dr Naveed Baloch, deans, directors, national and international scholars, faculty members and students of the different departments of the university.
Speaking at the occasion Executive Director HEC Dr Mansur Akbar Kundi said by holding this International conference, the NUML leadership has displayed its believes in imparting education with matching practical knowledge rather than theory alone.
This conference is a manifestation of the fact its belief that faculty and students are going to interact with the people who are practically at the helm of successful enterprise, he added.
He said research in this epoch is playing a pivotal role in bringing change and incorporating new trends in education and corporate sectors. He said economy of a country thrives on embracing the latest development and trends to tackle challenges in better way.
He hoped that this conference will play an important role by giving deeper insight into this phenomenon. It will also motivate them to become research oriented minds.
He said HEC is not only organizing these programmes but also
encouraging and funding the faculty, students who are pursing higher education and sharing their research work with national,international community.
In his vote of thanks Dean FMS, Dr Naveed Baloch said that the
Conference focused on all aspects of business and management with a view to extract fertile ideas from academia and research communities, share concerns, evaluate the constraints, cooperatively design strategies capable of enabling the corporate sector to address potential future challenges and prepared themselves to stay competitive.
Speaking to an academic session Atle Hetland, a senior Norwegian
social scientist, said that we are afraid of talking about difficult issues worrying that we may be incorrect. In politics, religion, cultural and social fields, we must find ways to talk together again. It is essential then, that we also include
those we disagree with, not just hold cozy talks amongst the like minded.
He said we must detail rules and regulations for how to operate in
politics, business, social and cultural life. In academic studies and research,much is about debating, asking the right questions and drawing the right conclusions.
We must study and consider what others have thought and said, and we
must search for solutions that can be implemented, not just remain symbolism and such conference also leads one to the reality of things, he added.
