ISLAMABAD – The second day of the 15th Annual PAP Conference on `50 Years of Pakistan’s Population Program: Setting Strategic Priorities and Program Direction for Vision 2025` concluded at Bahria University (BU) Islamabad on Wednesday.
The conference highlighted that Pakistan has recently developed a Vision 2025 document. During the deliberations policy makers discussed that how this vision can incorporate the commitment made by the Government of Pakistan at the London Summit for achieving FP2020 goals. Pakistan’s current challenge is to expand access to high quality, voluntary family planning and reproductive health services so that individuals and couples can meet their desires for smaller families, while also improving women’s standing within families and society.
The two days session ended with the closing remarks of Honorable Rector of BU, Vice Admiral® Shahid Iqbal HI (M) and he appreciated Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President (PAP) for giving honor to Bahria to work with (PAP). He said that BU has also played a key role in collaboration with (PAP) by organizing this debate and providing a platform for all the stakeholders to assemble and share their concerns. Bahria University looks forward to this continued collaboration with Population Association of Pakistan (PAP) and the other contributing organizations with the hope that in the future we may continue academic debates and joint research ventures on health, population and nutrition, hence, playing a an important role in the development of our country.
The last session was on `Interactive Session with Youth Representatives and Opinion Shapers` and chaired by Chairman and Chief Executive JJ Media (Pvt.) Limited Karachi, Mr. Javed Jabbar
