Recent rains hit rice crop

LARKANA—The recent rains that lashed Larkana and Kambar-Shahdadkot had played havoc with the rice crop. The heavy rains had inflicted irreparable losses on the farmers and growers as 70 percent of paddy stocks lying in open fields were severely hit with the two spells of downpour. This was stated by the President Sindh Balochistan Rice Millers and Traders Association Muhammad Arif Mahesar on Saturday. The farmers who kept the heaps of harvested crop under open sky awaiting higher prices were damaged. The growers kept their harvested paddy crop in the open fields expecting that PASSCO would in time procure it at the reasonable rate, said Mahisar.
