Escalating tension could be disastrous: President

LONDON—President Asif Ali Zardari in a interview with the leading British daily “The Financial Times” has warned against escalating tensions between Pakistan and India and said any confrontation would be disastrous for the war on terror as this would sap his nation’s effort against militants on its Afghan border. “The architects of this calamity in Mumbai have managed to raise a threat on our other (eastern) border. India seeks strong action against terror ‘elements’

NEW DELHI—Shahid Malik, Pakistan High Commissioner was called by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs here this evening and alleged that the recent terrorist attack on Mumbai was carried out by “elements” from Pakistan. Pakistan not involved in Mumbai carnage: US

WASHINGTON—The White House on Monday said the investigation into the India attacks was continuing but it had heard nothing to suggest that Pakistan’s government was involved. “I’ve heard nothing that says that the Pakistani government was involved,” White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.
