MULTAN—MNA and federal parliamentary secretary on food and agriculture Nawab Liaquat Ali Khan said on Saturday that PASSCO has begun purchase of rice from growers at Rs 1500 per maund and 71 centres have been set up across the country for the purpose including five in Multan. “Price of rice will be stable in domestic market within next seven to ten days due to the interventional purchase by PASSCO,” he said in his address of welcome at a public meeting in Hamidpur Kanora village after foundation stone laying and earthbreaking ceremonies of two big roads scheme by the Prime Minister. He said that ginners were not taking interest in purchasing ‘Phutti’ from growers because they were facing cash problems after banks stopped their limit and advances facility.
