Sanjay Dutt is naughty, while Imran is nice: Sophie Choudry
Noreen Aslam
BOMBAY—Popular VJ-cum-actor Sophie Choudry on working with Bollywood’s
hottest guys in Kidnap and her upcoming releases. You did the much
talked about item song in Kidnap.
Well, it is not just a song but a sensual part of the story. There is a
lot of action happening during the song. Earlier I used to get lots of
offers for doing item songs which I used to decline. I have done this
for Sanjay Gadhvi and Sanju sir as they treat me like family. To top it,
it is a big film and I got an opportunity to show my worked- out body.
I may have a sexy body but my soft and innocent face make for a good
combination. I don’t look vulgar which is an important aspect for me.
Give us an insight into Sanjay Dutt and Imran Khan as people.
Sanjay Dutt is very naughty, a complete child and a big prankster. He
takes you by surprise with his pranks each time. When I was doing a
shot, suddenly someone ran out of the frame, dressed in exactly the same
manner as I was and started dancing with me till I realised it was a
man! Sanjay had supervised the entire thing, he got the same hot costume
I had worn, the hairstyle and everything was a replica. I was shocked
with the incident, wondering what was happening! Sanjay has got the
greatest of hearts and is genuinely caring. Having gone through a bitter
experience earlier he is very warm, encouraging and loving.
Imran Khan is a very sweet guy and has done very good work in Kidnap. If
somebody walks in on the sets I never look twice but… he is an extremely
good looking boy, is chilled out and keeps to himself. What are you
working on at present?
At present I have a few films on hand. One is Indra Kumar’s Daddy Cool.
After Dhamaal’s hit, this is an out and out comedy too. It is the first
time that people will see me in a comedy. Then there’s Freeze with Neil
Mukesh and Bipasha Basu. And of course, Alibaug.
Chintuji is with Rishi Kapoor. The film is produced by Bobby Bedi and is
a very off- beat kind of film. It was my dream to work with Rishi Kapoor
as a child. How’s your new album working out?
I have completed my album but I will not tell you the name just now
[laughs]. It releases in November. In the next six months people will
see that Sophie can do more than just sing and dance; she can act too!
You are very fashion conscious. So what’s going to be in this season?
Velvet seems to be the new fabric this season. One must make an effort
to dress well in nice clean lines and good colours. Even a simple cut
dress looks good. One must experiment with colours like yellow, sea
shell or red which looks really nice. What’s going up this season?
[Laughs] Hopefully the hemline! You must have attended Fashion week
recently? Which designer did you like?
Rohit Bal definitely. He has known me from my pamper days when I was
just a kid. I call him Gudda mama [uncle]. He is a genius when it comes
to fashion. He is from just another level altogether and the couture is
fabulous and very entertaining.
Being a VJ what do you have you to say about music channels suddenly
indulging in reality shows? The reality shows which are coming in on all
the channels, look the same. The best reality show is on MTV which is
called ‘Roadies’ where the VJ talks to the youngsters. It has a
genuinely huge fan following. Other than that I do not see any other
shows. The shows on TV like ‘Fear Factor’ and ‘Ek Haseena Ek Khiladai’
are overdone. |
