Zardari secures landslide win

ISLAMABAD—Ruling coalition candidate and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has been elected as 12th president of the country with a thumping majority securing 480 votes. According to the results, Zardari got 480 votes out of the 702 votes from the national and provincial legislatures while his rival from PML-Nawaz, Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, received 153 votes and Mushahid Hussain Syed, the candidate of the Quaid faction of PML could get only 43 votes. 18 votes were rejected...

Car blast kills 30 in Peshawar

PESHAWAR—At least 15 people including five policemen, two children and a woman have been killed and several dozens injured in a suicide car blast at Kohat Road near Peshawar. The blast took place at about 11.55 am Saturday morning when people were busy in daily routine work at busy Kohat road. According to police sources, an explosive-laden Double Cabin vehicle, which was coming from Darra Adam Khel area towards Peshawar, blasted near Zangali check post barricade at Kohat Road.
