PHC deposed
CJ, three judges to take oath
PESHAWAR—Four judges of Peshawar High Court who were sacked by then
president Pervez Musharraf by declaring state of emergency on November
3, 2007 are likely to take fresh oath tomorrow (Friday). According to
sources, the sacked Chief Justice of PHC Justice Tariq Pervez also
includes among those who are taking fresh oath tomorrow as he has agreed
to resume his post.
Others who are likely to take oath include justice Shahjahan Khan,
Justice Aijaz Afzal and Justice Dost Mohammad. There were only four
judges in Peshawar High Court who had not taken oath under PCO after
proclamation of November 3 emergency. The fresh oath will not change the
seniority order of the judges in PHC. Earlier, the deposed judges of
Sindh and Lahore High Court also took fresh oath.
The deposed chief justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC), Justice Tariq
Pervez Thursday said he would take fresh oath of his office on Friday.
Talking to Geo News here he said: “I am taking oath of the office of
Chief Justice Peshawar High Court on Friday”. However, he expressed
ignorance about oath taking of other judges of Peshawar High Court.
Governor NWFP Owais Ahmed Ghani will administer the oath at a ceremony
to be held here at Governor House at 11:00 AM tomorrow. Four PHC judges
had refused to take fresh oath under Provisional Constitution Order (PCO)
after the imposition of emergency.
