pound militant hideouts
SWAT—The security forces have carried out intense shelling at Taliban
hideouts during an operation underway in Swat whereas several people
reportedly dead in Matta Tehsil.
According to sources, security forces fired mortar shells on Friday
night at Taliban hideouts whereas four people were reportedly killed
during shelling in Peochar area of Matta. Four were injured in Kabal,
Sarsenai, Township and Bilogram areas and were shifted to Syedo Sharif
hospital. Meanwhile, miscreants set on fire a girls school in Mangora,
however, no loss life was reported in the incident.
Security forces arrested six people for violating curfew in Mangora
bazaar. Frontier Constabulary has reopened the Mangora-Matta road for
traffic. The road was closed by Taliban.
Taliban blew up a police check post with explosives in Kishora area of
Malam Jabba. Fresh contingents of security forces have reached in Swat
on the request of provincial government. Incharge of ISPR Swat Major
Farooq said that the curfew would be relaxed from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm in
district Swat. Three persons were killed and four others in the
operation underway in Swat. Curfew was imposed again in the valley after
allowing 5 hour relaxation. The security forces carried out intense
shelling at Taliban hideouts in Swat.
Security forces destroyed a number of hideouts of militants by launching
mortar shells in Shaur, Banda, Payochar and Namal areas of Kanju FC
camp, Kabal Frontier House and Matta. Two civilians were killed in Shaur
and one in Wanai area as a result of fights that erupted between
security forces and local Taliban. Unknown persons blew up using
explosives a vacant police station in Kashora area.
Militants also used explosives to destroy two girls schools in Kashora
and office of an NGO in Dargai. Three vehicles were damaged but
casualties were reported. Meanwhile, FC has opened the road from Mengora
to Matta for all types of vehicular traffic. One persons was killed in
Kabal, another in Sarsanai and one in Town Ship. Two persons were
injured in Balogram who were shifted to Saido Sharif Hospital. More
contingents of security forces have reached Swat on the requisition of
the provincial government. Incharge of ISPR Swat Major Farooq told Geo
