Shaheed Benazir lives in hearts of people: Sherry

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sherry Rehman
Saturday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is the party of poor people
and it would continue fight against oppression. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir
Bhutto lives in the hearts of workers and her sacrifice would not go
waste, Sherry Rehman said while addressing a function organized in
connection with 55th birth anniversary of Benazir Bhutto here at Peoples
Secretariat.
She said PPP was like a family and all its leaders and workers would
always stand by its Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and its Co-Chairman
Asif Zardari.
The Minister said every year June 21 brought a message of happiness for
the PPP activists but “this year we are observing the day without
Benazir Bhutto, who sacrificed her life for the cause of democracy.”
Sherry Rehman said Benazir Bhutto has become immortal due to her
sacrifice and today not only Pakistani nation but the entire world was
paying homage to the great leader.
She said Benazir Bhutto always taught the party leaders to take care of
the worker and the party would follow her footsteps in this regard.
The Minister said Benazir Bhutto always raised voiced for the rights of
labourers, farmers and the poor and PPP would always follow that motto.
“PPP would never compromise on its principles as it is determined to
provide Roti, Kapra and Makan to the poor and downtrodden,” she added.
She said PPP has rendered sacrifices from the beginning but never
surrendered before tyrants.
“We will fulfill the commitment of our Shaheed leader by giving
sacrifices for downtrodden and uplift of the country and accomplishment
of her mission,” the Minister said and Benazir Bhutto was the leader who
had firm resolve to work for prosperity of the people.
Legislators including Azra Fazal Pacheho, Mehrin Anwar Raja, Fauzia
Habib, Yasmeen Rehman, Shamshad Bachani, Fauzia Wahab, Dr. Faiza and a
large number of party workers attended the ceremony. Quran Khawani was
held for the soul of Shaheed PPP Chairperson on the occasion. |
