Ministry to increase family welfare
centres to 30,000
ISLAMABAD—Ministry of Population Welfare would increase number of
population welfare centre to 30,000 to provide maximum population
welfare facilities to masses, across the country.
While, presently, the ministry has only 3,000 centres throughout the
country, which are providing facilities to masses in terms of service
delivery, advocacy, motivation for young married couples to boost the
idea of smaller family, the source said on Tuesday.
The sources added that Federal Minister for Population Welfare Mir
Hamayun Aziz Kurd is keen to extend the concept and range of Family
Welfare Centres (FWC) and Reproductive Health Services Centres (RHSC) at
union council level to facilitate the masses in rural and remote areas.
The sources said that where the population was dispersed, especially in
Balochistan, three family welfare centers in each union council would be
established in the province.
Under the ongoing programme, the sources said the number of Reproductive
Health Centres equipped with operation theatre, specialists for the
back-up support during the surgical procedure, would also increased up
to Tehsil level. Moreover, the sources said more Regional Training
Institutes (RTIs) for the training of Family Welfare Workers (FWWs) will
be established at divisional level. The sources said that presently
there were 13 Institutes working and imparting training in various
cities of the country, adding that 10 more new centers would be set up
in the next five years.
